- 1. To identify and establish woodlots and consolidated gardens, irrigation and schemes and grazing schemes.
- 2. To consider siting of dams and recommend issuing of water permits to council.
- 3. To take responsibility for reclamation of degraded natural resources.
- 4. To consider resettlement lists and recommend to council.
- 5. To take measurement for the conservation of improvement through issuing of permits and monitoring the use of natural resources including soil, water, trees, grass, wildlife and control pollution.
- 6. To provide and prescribe means for the control, prevention, and extinguishing of bush fires.
- 7. To establish, promote and maintain fisheries and fish dams.
- 8. To provide and maintain dip tanks, fencing, stock pens, slaughter facilities and watering points for livestock.
- 9. To provide facilities for marketing of agricultural produce.
- 10. To control the grazing of stock on land under council.
- 11. To cultivate and farm land owned, or controlled by council.
- 12. To take measures to control, suppress outbreaks of, or exterminate insects, pests and vermin that affect agricultural produce.
- 13. To formulate bylaws governing the operations of Lands, Agriculture and Natural Resources.
- 14. To ensure environmental impact assessments are done on new projects.
- 15. To support farmers ’groups especially during shows and field days.
- 16. To implement land use plans and control illegal settlements.
- 17. To consider land disputes.
- 18. To promote and encourage eco –tourism.
- 19. Preparation, implementation and monitoring of committee budgets.
