DUTIES
- 1. Recommends adoption of LED strategy and related policies
- 2. Facilitate development of the annual LED plan and to implement council approved programmes.
- 3. Receive and consider new investment proposals for recommendation to council.
- 4. Advise council on local investment issues.
- 5. Monitor and evaluate and report progress of LED programmes.
- 6. Facilitate broader public involvement in local economic development.
- 7. Provide educational opportunities to support LED programmes.
- 8. Recommend programmes to recognise and reward achievements.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (KEY RESULT AREAS)
- 1. Conducts research and stakeholder consultation to formulate an LED strategy.
- 2. Provide/facilitate advice to local entrepreneurship.
- 3. Develop appropriate LED database.
- 4. Preparation of appropriate periodic reports.
- 5. Facilitate training for stakeholder groups.
- 6. Promotion of private sector development with focus on SMEs.
- 7. Provide technical advice to the LED committee on issues of growth and development of the council economy.
- 8. Liase with other government agencies to facilitate LED programmes.
- 9. Supporting existing businesses to survive, grow and expand operations.
