- 1. To consider all matters relating to the provision of health, education, and social services
- 2. To prepare short to long plans
- 3. To facilitate the provision of public health education.
- 4. To do all the necessary to prevent pollution in any form and to require any person to take the necessary steps to achieve such purposes at the expense of such person.
- 5. To monitor and inspect services for removal and treatment of affluent, refuse and waste.
- 6. To provide, operate and maintain health facilities.
- 7. To establish, equip and maintain fire brigades for the protection and saving f life property in the case of fire or other emergency.
- 8. To hold meetings with School Development Committees.
- 9. To provide and operate or carry on services for family planning and child spacing
- 10. To provide and operate public assistance in case of emergencies like drought, or any other local national disasters.
- 11. To provide, operate and maintain schools, crèches, libraries and other educational institution, recreational facilities and amenities and to levy and collect fees and other charges.
- 12. To consider youth development, gender and employment creation within the council area.
- 13. To provide and maintain orchestra and band and to hire them out.
- 14. To provide for pauper burials.
- 15. Preparation, implementation and monitoring of committee budgets.
